| Cipolla trees are currently rare. The trees are vigorous growers and highly productive. They produce medium-large size figs, are early ripening, and the figs are common type, not needing wasp pollination. Cipolla 无花果树目前较为稀少。这些树生长旺盛,产量高。它们结出的无花果大小适中,成熟较早,属于普通品种,无需黄蜂授粉。
 Cipolla is a fig with brown to deep purple skin. The skin can have white speckles that usually disappear upon ripening. Cipolla figs can often have a squat shape, but the length of the neck can also depend upon growing conditions. The figs have a red pulp that can drip red honey when ripe. The texture is jammy with a slight seed crunch. Cipolla has an exotic flavor that has been compared to Black Madeira. Some people taste hints of guava or papaya.
 Cipolla comes from Pomona Gardens, a conservatory of rare fruit trees under the care of Paolo Belloni. Belloni reportedly saved this variety from extinction by cloning Cipolla before its mother tree died.
